Sanju Pradhan inspires the young

Image
International footballer, Sanju Pradhan who is now with Punjab FC shared his inspirational football journey and other aspects of the game with some of the young players of his village, Sombaria and explained many points to them. Sanju has also been training with these boys regularly. It was a lucky day for the young players of Sombaria on Saturday as the former East Bengal Captain, Sanju Pradhan whom most of them refer to as Sanju daju or Sanju da shared his experience with the boys. It was raining but that did not stop him from giving this Pep Talk. Sanju posted on his Facebook page “It was nice to interact with some younger players in my village and share with them my football journey and the experience I have gained over the years playing this game. Some of the boys are not very good at studies and I told them education is important but at the same time football can open up a lot of opportunities for them if they remain dedicated.” He further added “ If not the top professional cl

The Dajus of Football

You'll find them in every place where football is played. They are in love with the beautiful game and it's hard for them to imagine life or the world without Football. Yes, they are those ubiquitous “Dajus or Das of Football.” Most of these individuals are former footballers who once had a dream to become professionals but they could not make that dream come true and I think in every young footballer they see themselves and through the young boys, they want to full fill their own dream of becoming a top footballer. Dajus are there in every match cheering for their Bhais. Shouting at them from the sidelines to do this and that. After the match taking them for snacks and tea, still lecturing on how they should have played sometimes being harsh as well and saying things like “Thukka sala testo easy goal pani miss garis”. Trying their best to encourage though they are not related however a much stronger bond of football binds them. Which for some lasts forever. Some other Dajus

Our Village Rongo and It's Love for Football

Image
This is the time every year when my village would be engrossed in football as the Inter village matches would be on but this year due to the COVID 19 the people will miss the action. For 15 days Rongo would be divided into Maidan Gaon, Dhap Gaon, Gurung Goan, Pakhrin Golai, Sangam Gaon, Dokan Dara, Tanki Dara, and so on. I might have missed out on a few names as the last Inter village tournament I saw was in 2013 when I was the Manager and Coach of our Ground Gaon Team. I will have have to admit I don’t have much idea about the history, of football in Rongo, this will require time and effort if it has to be done in a proper way, but since I was a little kid I can remember watching matches at the ground which is officially called the Rongo Janata Ground. I think the very first football match I saw was in Rongo, during the days when the 3 defenders never left their place and the goalkeeper was allowed to catch the back pass. Oh yes, the defenders were called simply “Back” and the cheeri
