You have left a mark brother

Quietly one of my favorite player Bijendra Rai has parted ways with football last year and I came to know about it today. A top class forward who always played the game from his heart. He represented India in the age group levels from Under-16 to Under-22. Now that’s really impressive.
Initially I could not believe it when he told me "I have quit football." He later added that the knee injury which kept nagging him for many years was responsible for his early retirement from the game.
It's really hard for footballers to leave the game early due to an injury. It's so unfair, many of them have to take this call when they are in the form of their life and feeling like nothing can stop them now and Bang comes the injury.
This lad from Sikkim played for many top clubs of the country like Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan Sporting, Bhawanipur FC, United Sikkim FC , Royal Wahindoh, Eagels FC, Chennai FC, Pailan Arrows, Gangtok Himalayan FC and Akramaan FC, IMG Relaince had also called him for a camp before the 1st ISL.
Bijendra's dream of wearing the senior India jersey will never come true. It's a dream every footballer sees, day and night and we can only imagine how hard it must have been for him to give up on that dream but he has enough of wonderful football stories to tell his kids and grand kids. He has achieved a lot.
It’s sad Bijendra had to leave the game quite early and he might have many regrets but I think he can hold his head high as he always worked hard and played with dedication. Sometimes you also need luck as a footballer and may be he didn't have that, but he has definitely left a mark.
