PRESS RELEASE Sombaria: Sanju Football Academy, Sombaria will be hosting a winter football coaching camp for boys and girls aged between 10 to 15 years from 24th December 2021 to 16th January 2022.  From next year the Academy management has plans to launch a hostel and through this camp talented players will be selected for the same.  "The main aim of this camp is to teach the basics of football to the young players and also to share my experience of playing professional football all these years for different clubs and country". After a gap of almost 2 years, competitive football has returned to Sombarey, West Sikkim with a tournament organized by United Veterans, Daramdin kicking off on Saturday.  The aim this week long Knockout Football Tournament is to provide platform to the local players as most of them were sitting idle during the lockdown and restrictions. All the matches will take place at the Government Senior Secondary School, playground. Two games were played on the opening day of the Tournament.The first match was between Rumbuk FC and Rongkup FC, Tikpur which the former won 6-0. Second match was played between Young Boys Siktam and Rimbik FC and had a similar score of 6-0 with Rimbik FC taking home the honours.  Tika Hang Subba CLC President (SKM) Daramdin Constituency was the Chief Guest for the day and  Tribal Affairs Chairman Shri.P.K Subba was the Guest of Honour.

Our aim should be to put our hills of Darjeeling & Kalimpong once again back into the football map of the country. For that rivalries should be forgotten once the match is over. Outside the field we should all work together with a common aim to promote football in our region, doesn't matter how small our contribution might be, it will have an impact one day. Let's not think in the lines of their club or our club because in the national context we have to accept we are nothing. So when a club does something good for football we should all support them. If we can't do that atleast not pull their legs and doubt their intentions.  It's been years since we have seen a boy from our region play in the National team. Stars have vanished. We blame the system, facilities lack of opportunities and all that but if the football fraternity itself is not united how will that improve? A Mega Blood Donation Camp was organized today at Government SSS,  Sombaria as a tribute to Sahid Durga Malla.  Mr. Sanju Pradhan, Indian International Footballer who is also the mentor of the Sanju Football  Academy & Everester Ms. Manita Pradhan leant their support as Brand Ambassadors. Indian International Footballer from Sikkim, Sanju Pradhan has completed fifteen years in professional football and through a facebook post on Sunday he remembered his two Academy coaches- Late. Hangu Norden Lepcha and Late. Solomon Lepcha.  "As a little boy these two gentlemen taught me to shoot the ball by holding my legs, not many coaches do that. Yes these two great souls were more than just a coach or mentor. The way they inspired me cannot be put into words.I miss them a lot and whatever success I have got today I owe it to them. PRESS RELEASE  Sanju Football Academy, Sombaria have tied up with Ultimate Fitness Gym to be their Fitness Partner. The understanding was reached online due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic and lockdown. "In today's time footballers need to be very fit and to build muscles weight training is important so it's really nice we have got Ultimate Fitness Gym as our Fitness Partner, I am sure our Academy boys will benefit a lot as they have very experienced trainers". With the nation wide surge of covid-19 cases and the consequent counter active vaccination drive set to start soon for the age group of 18-45 years from 1st May, 2021. It is anticipated that the blood bank might run short of majority of it's blood donors after the vaccination shots. Hence inorder to minimize the possible sparseness and maintain the viable stock in the bank, a voluntary blood donation camp was organised successfully by The Football Club of Melli (FC Melli) in collaboration with The Blood Army of Sikkim on 29th April, 2021 in the football play ground of Melli Bazar, South Sikkim.
